What this site knows about you.

This page is a draft. It describes how the site is built today and will be confirmed by the studio before the site goes live.

Who we are

Dark Forest Animations is an independent animation studio based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at darkforestanimations@proton.me.

What the site collects

Very little. The site has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no tracking cookies. We do not use social media buttons that report your visit to anyone.

• Preferences. Your motion choice (Pause or Resume) and your 3D quality choice are saved in your own browser's local storage so the site remembers them next time. They never leave your device.
• Hosting logs. The site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard connection logs (such as your IP address and the pages requested) for security and to keep the service running, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The enquiry form

When you send a message through the form, we receive what you typed: your name, your email address, the kind of enquiry and your message. Here is what happens to it.

• The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a script, is sending it. Turnstile processes some connection data to do that, under Cloudflare's privacy policy above.
• Submissions are rate limited by IP address at Cloudflare to stop abuse. The address is used for that check only.
• Your message is delivered by email through Resend, our email provider, to the studio inbox. Resend processes the message in order to deliver it, under Resend's privacy policy.
• The studio inbox is hosted by Proton Mail. We keep your message there for as long as we need it to reply and follow up.
• A copy of your message (your name, email address, the kind of enquiry, your message and the country Cloudflare reports your connection from) is also kept in the studio's own database on Cloudflare D1, so that nothing is lost if an email fails to arrive. We do not store your IP address there. Only the studio can read it, through a private area protected by Cloudflare Access.
• That copy is deleted automatically 24 months after it arrives, and messages marked as spam are deleted after 30 days. Email us at any time and we will delete yours sooner. There is no mailing list.

We use what you send us only to reply to you. We do not share it with anyone else, and we do not send marketing.

Links to other sites

Links to YouTube, Instagram and Facebook take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. Nothing from them is embedded in this site.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email darkforestanimations@proton.me and we will reply ourselves. If you are not happy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If the way the site works changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
